OBJECTIVES
The objectives of the institute are:
- To bring together through membership subscription, those professionals who manage the act of communication and information management.
- To encourage professionalism in the fields of Mass Communication and Information Management and conduct researches into the best methods and means of developing and applying them.
- To provide opportunities for Mass Communicators and other related fields to improve and enhance their technical/career development programmes.
Nationally and internationally, create activities for exposure for all Mass Communicators, public administrators, theatre artists, public relators, in the art of information management. - To ensure a professional status necessary to promote and encourage the study and development of Mass Communication and Information Management.
- To maintain a high standard of professionalisml through regular publication of journals of the institute and dissemination of professional communication knowledge.
- To maintain always, standard in Mass Communication and Information Management matters which will meet both Nigeria and international conduct of members.
- To regulates the activities and general conduct of all qualified mass communicators and information managers through professional platform.
- To organize conferences, workshops, seminars and symposia for discussion on Mass Communication and Information Management matters and duties, presentation of papers, literatures, and to issue copies of abridged of position paper, books, lectures, record, and other memoranda on contemporary issues.
- To admit as members, only qualified individual as stated by the council and who have passed the institute's professional examination.
- To practise and function as Mass Communicators and Information Managers and to advise the government and the public sector on the importance of communication and information management.
- To disseminate, promote knowledge, educate and train, and exchange information and relevant ideas geared towards problem solving.
- To establish and maintain the registration and award of Fellow, Certified membership, Associate membership, Graduate membership, and Student membership.
